hmmmm....

Hmm it seems I have been neglecting my blog.
Its not on purpose just been a little busy with things like making a dress I bought for a fiver into something a little fancier but I also now have massive neck ache from stitching, decided to buy the same thing in a different colour too. Oooh what next.

I miss drawing butterflies. I love their colours and patterns, maybe I'll just have to draw some.

Also in other news. I'm gona paint out some designs I didnt get chance to whilst at uni. :)

Stuffs I like 3.

H. R. Geiger. This needs no words. maybe just 1. Awesome.

Stuffs I like 2

Chinese artist Leo Tzu. I stumbled on this painting a few years ago on my BTEC course. Loved it since.

Stuffs I like.

Patrick Gannon. An intresting specialisim with cut paper. I love his work :) so i thought I would share it.

My Degree Show.

Well, this is kind of what my degree show exhibition turned out like, I was really happy with the results and the response from the moochers :) maybe after all I have done something better than I originally thought ey?
I've had some amazing feedback and this makes me smile.
So what now? I guess I better get my ass in gear and send some CV's around ;)

minor project.

This is an image from my minor project, one of my finished designs, a butterfly repeat for fashion fabrics printing digitally onto silk. This is one of my favourites from the collection as i really like creating repeat patterns from my drawings. Although i really wanted this design in black and white these blues work nicely instead.

Rolls and rolls.

By the end of this project im going to have seen enough rolls of paper to last a life time, they just seem to stack up and they breed. well. that might be a bit of an over reaction. at least my designs look awesome when I have printed them into 2 metre lengths. It excites me a little to think that I could actually paper walls with them right now! :D

Damien Hirst

I went to Bowes Museum for some research a few months back and the Damien Hirst exhibition was on with the skull masks and butterflies, the butterflies were really nice and linked in with my own theme nicely but I didnt think much of his sparkly skulls to be honest. I think I prefer his mutilated animals. :)

photobooks are evil.

I have ordered myself a photobook full of imagery from my 3 years with Cleveland College of Art and Design. I now know how stressful it can be making a book, and all I had to do was drag and drop and re size. Well when it finally arrives it better be good. I'm quite looking forward to seeing my work in a book actually even if it is one I have created myself. :)

florals

Ok. I didnt want my project to involve florals, but I guess ones that look a little less floral like are more interesting and fit in with my project alot more. Spider Orchids. Quite fancy!

Zombie-ness

grr and arg.

A few days of photoshop on the same imagery is starting to pound my head. However i will not be defeated. and it will all work out fine in the end... just have to waste my life a little more on this. Still feeling positive!

Thursday 17 March 2011

This is a drawing im using in design at the moment, its turning outto be one of my favourite interior designs so far. I'ts come to a stop as a design and i need to develop it further, but im unsure which way i want to take it.

more stuff

some other work i keep coming across while looking through my files (same bird project as my last post) working on a live brief with tiger print in 2010, they wanted designs for calanders note books and diaries. I quite liked my designs i did for this, but i needed to develop them further.

sink art

cooking up something dark

ok so this day i spent too much time stood over a pan of boiling black dye full of fabric. a few attempts and many fabric samples later after changing and trying different dyes... i had my black and it was about time! also left a pretty pattern in the sink.

something new.

ok my final major project is about lizard and snake skeletons. im not sure why? but it just seemed right and interesting, with some butterflies thrown for use of colour and pattern. and i have to say so far its working really well.

Wednesday 23 February 2011

ok, i should probably have been posting much more than this by now. but i just keep forgetting my blog exists as i get sucked into studio work. As a first post i guess i should write about something interesting? ... or maybe just show a nice picture. i used this drawing sheet to create some fashion fabric designs, they didnt work so well as i used the digital printer, i think painting by hand and manutex pull probably would have worked alot better to give it a more flowing effect like the drawing on the sheet. i like this tho :)
