3D box art. SOLD!

I've completed and sold my first commission piece, I had lots of fun creating it and sharing my progress with the buyer to make sure things were going how he wanted them to.

It's been a while since I painted something with detailing without putting my own style in there, (which I did anyway with the smaller ones)
I forget how much I love using detail and how long it takes but the results are motivating knowing I can still do it.

When creating these small box frames art pieces I often look over to my stack of canvases waiting to have some paint splashed across and some 3D things worked into them. that could be the next thing (of course when I have made enough box framed ones) I need continuous stock and I'm aware that if I start a painting I may be at it for some time! but that's a bit exciting! a finished canvas! something I've never done.]

well I've rambled enough, here's the Sold item.

New work cont....

So, its been a few weeks since I started getting things going. As per usual things are getting in the way of me getting on with things such as birthdays, work, family, friends and really bad procrastinating. however I have finished 2 pieces and I'm halfway through a commission for a friend, so there's something to be positive about.
I'm really enjoying getting back into being messy and arty and losing everything I put down immediately after, I've had some really great advice from some friends who are already successful sellers so stay tuned. Surely only more positives to follow?
Anyway here's a little pic.

New work

So. I've been doing nothing but work work work over the past 7 months and now I've had enough. My studio has been so neglected and I've missed my little space.
Ideas and flowing and I'm feeling inspired and even a little motivated to get some things going and make some work up!
As I was going through some things I stumbled upon some old uni work that was never turned into anything untill now... now I have plans. watch this space...

Photoshop boredom

Ok so I have been working a lot lately 7 days a week for the past 2 months. I've not got a lot of art done lately as I've not been able to focus long enough on anything without falling asleep.
So today I have messed around on Photoshop and designed myself a new header logo thingy for my Harkerstyle name.
Taken from on of my earlier drawings, its basically one drawing manipulated and repeated to the final image. Hope you like it.

Baby Bunting

Finally I made some bunting for my little niece's room. she's now about 4 months old and pretty cute.
anyway not alot to describe about it other than this is a first attempt, and I think its pretty good going. printed cottons backed with felt, I have also appliquéd flower petals and lettering into the bunting to make it more visually exciting.

Screen Print Totes

I eventually got my booty over to Print Club at CCAD in Hartlepool. Sprted my screen and got away with some screen printing, things didn't really go to plan so I left it for a few days and ordered my own squeegee in from Ebay.

Set myself up in my kitchen and started a few more prints, the majority of them turned out pretty well, but for some reason I always manage to miss a bit of the bigger designs so they are turning out a little patchy. but I'm ok with this alot of it is about practice and I'm well out of practice but I'm enjoying being able to print from home.

I've set myself up an Etsy shop and listed a few of my bags to sell, I'm unsure if I will make a sale but I have to start somewhere and how else will I know people will like my designs unless I do this. If I do make some sales I'm going to be well chuffed :)

Here's some pictures.

Arty farty

So. It's been rather a while since my last blog post. so far I havn't touched my embroidery since the last post about it, but I have been doing some arty creative-ness including a drawing I started ages ago which I have now finished.
Although I am not quite satisfied with the finished piece I am happy that I've finally finished it and it could be cut free from my board.
Huzzah!
Also. I've been delving into the depths of the Etsy shop selling. Eventually I'm going to list things including art which I would like to sell. However this is all new to me!

Ready for print club!

I'm totally ready for print club at CCAD, I should have done this months ago. All I need is for my ordered bags to arrive so I can print them up all lovely. *curses the delivery people* I want them now!
I think I'll stick with the prints I have already or I'm going to end up with far to many prints to play with and end up in a big mess.
Definate progress going on. :)
Ok so a few weeks have past by since I started the embroidery for my niece so between working shifts over Xmas and sleeping and eating and doing other things except my embroidery I've gotten this far. I'm pretty pleased with it however I'm now thinking I could have approached it from a different way and started machine stitching first and then adding all the detail afterwards as it would have been far quicker and I may have gotten further with it. However I will persist and it shall be finished.

I'm also getting inspired to work on other art pieces so I need to get this one out of the way as I don't want to end up with 100 things started and none finished... hah.

Beads and Threads and Fabric :)

Ordered me up some Gorgeous beads and threads from the http://www.beadmerchant.co.uk/ http://www.stef-francis.co.uk/hand-dyed-yarns both arrived in super fast time with affordable delivery costs.

All because my sister had a little girl last week , my niece  shes called Katy so I thought I would work on an embroidery piece for her. I thought her name would look pretty all stitched up with pink threads and ribbons with some lovely silk fabric applique thrown in decorated with a few lovely beads.

I look at the colour pallet and it is so not my style as I try my hardest to keep away from pinks as I just do not get along with pink...

Watch this space, I've no idea how long this is going to take :)

New design for my brand name

So I though I would have a quick mess around in Photoshop and it turns out I like what I did so I put my name above it. Just goes to show it doesn't need to take hours to create something that works and that you like all at the same time woohoo. Anyway I like it and I'm happy with it for now. I wonder how long before I start tweaking at it. :/

Harkerstyle now has its own page on Facebook and is also now tweeting on Twitter. Now to make sure I keep up with things and post things regularly. This could be exciting. This could also keep me busy. This is goooood. I better get doing things so I have new things to post :) yay!

I really loved the colours of the pebbles together on the 'beach' all naturals reminds me of having projects at uni and choosing colour pallets. How I miss those days if I could go and do it again I totally would. anyhoo some pics. not amazing ones but hey. :)

Love a bargain.

walking round tesco I spied the sale section in the clothes, and I just cant seem to resist having a good look through. for a while now I have been after a black jacket like this one.. who would have thought I'd buy one in my size for just £7 with a saving of £23 I also got a little excited :)

my little bag

I made this a while ago, but my internets been so lame I just never got round to posting it, I'm pretty pleased with it took me while to stitch the heart on but I enjoyed getting back into stitching and being all creative n funky like but i dont miss the backache :/ Instead of buying some bags in I decided to use up some of the fabric I have kicking about the place and I might aswell have a good practice at stitching the bags together to get my seams right, gona work on a few different things too, I need to keep busy and build up my skills :)

hmmm

I have succeed in making some sort of fabric wallet type shape complete with lining and design, however now I have finished it, when its unfastened I'm unsure if it's too long and a little impractical. So I'm unsure where this leaves me. I don't think it would work if it was any shorter unless I put a zip on it but then it would just be a boring coin purse or something I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing. hmm I'll shove a pic up at some point. *sigh*

I'm sewing I'm sewing!

Me.. on the sewing machine.. sewing things! not entirely sure what. but it will lead somewhere I'm sure, I need more practice at perfecting straight lines though need to be a little more proffessional if I'm to take this anywhere serious, but still this is progress and I want to keep at it!
